Labourex was founded during 2011 by Adv. C. Gopaul, an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa, in his capacity as a Labour Consultant, which he currently therein practices as. The said Advocate, had gained extensive experience, initially, at the law firm where he was articled at, where the firms specialty of practice was labour. After this initial two years of articles of clerkship, the Candidate Attorney, at that time, became employed at the largest, and quickest growing employers organization called SEESA. After being employed here for a few weeks, it became apparent that this environment was unlike any other law firm, it really was not a law firm but stricltly speaking, an employers organisation as envisaged by the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995. The reason for the indication of the distinction between this employers organization, and any law practice, is that the quantum of labour law related work was exclusive and therefore momentously greater than even the largest law practice in this Country!
This had come about because, SEESA had offices across South Africa and every south african business was eligble for membership. When author hereof (i.e. the said Advocate) began working there SEESA had approximately 30,000 businesses across the country as members, and the members with serviced through its national offices. This being a contributory factor to its large size as these employers then engaged the services of SEESA through the payment of a monthly retainer fee in exchange for services rendered.
Writer hereof continued to work there, until on or about the year 2011, where it had become apparent that further growth within the organisation appeared hindered and almost toward a complete stop. During my years at working at SEESA, I had discovered, seeing that it was a pilot project, different approaches or rather differences of opinion on practice, which I was keen to investigate further. Opening up my own practice of some sort would give me the opportunity to set forth the differences that I thought could make a remarkable difference on the quality of service as well as membership numbers.
Starting business with just a single retainer client, during the first year we struggled a little however toward the end of the year writer, single handedly, managed to recruit about five clients paying different scales of membership fees of course, depending on the number of employees the employer employed. The second third and every year thereafter saw labourex grow at a phenomenal rate with momentous speed and attention to detail. Before long she became a self sustaining practice. Writer's experience, coupled with the fact he received his education training from the University of Natal Pietermaritzburg, which, at that time had the reputation of the most reputable law school in South Africa, makes writer a rare find, in this diverse arena of law practice.
Fortunately, finding writer is no challenge as Labourex has its Head Office in Pietermaritzburg, and further details are available on this websites contact page.
